Britain's Zoe Smith has withdrawn from the weightlifting world championships in Kazakhstan because of a virus.

The 20-year-old, who won the Commonwealth Games -58kg title in July, will travel home from the competition which is running until 16 November.

"This is a great shame for everyone concerned and especially Zoe," a British Weight Lifting statement said.

"Zoe was looking forward to continuing her excellent form which included gold at the recent Commonwealth Games."
