Arsenal are to make a move for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, 27, after the apparent failure of their pursuit of Liverpool's Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan has apologised to his Anfield team-mates for trying to leave the club.
Chelsea are set to focus on Anzhi Makhachkala striker Samuel Eto'o, 32, if their own interest in Rooney comes to nothing.
