Tottenham midfielder Nacer Chadli was also quick to social media when Kane scored, tweeting: "Congrats! He scores when he wants, he scores when wants."

Ex-England striker Gary Lineker referenced Sir Bobby Charlton's record goals tally for the country of 49: "50 more touches and Harry Kane will beat Sir Bobby Charlton's goalscoring record."

And Burnley's Steven Reid told his Twitter followers who he is likely to vote for when the PFA awards come around, with Eden Hazard his Player of the Year and Kane his Young Player of the Year.
