Wijnaldum has joined Newcastle for £14.5m

New Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum gatecrashed a wedding at St James' Park as he was unveiled to the media on Saturday. "Marriage made in heaven," wrote Daily Mirror football writer Simon Bird, external on Twitter after capturing the image, which also featured Magpies boss Steve McClaren.

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul is delighted Netherlands international team-mate Wijnaldum has joined the club. "Pleased @GWijnaldum has signed. Great signing, welcome to Newcastle mate," he wrote on Twitter., external

Cech will wear 33 at Arsenal next season

Goalkeeper Petr Cech has revealed he will wear the number 33 shirt for Arsenal next season and has given his reasons for his choice. He tweeted:, external "Starting new chapter at 33 years of age with 333 games in the Premier League ... That's an easy choice." The former Chelsea goalkeeper added: "Hope to be a part of the spine of the team - spine has 33 vertebrae."

Former Manchester United and England defender Phil Neville declared himself satisfied as his first week as Valencia's assistant manager came to a mixed end. The Spanish club defeated Southampton before losing to Werder Bremen on penalties in a pre-season tournament. A crowd of 4,257 watched Hereford FC's first ever match. The club, founded by supporters after Hereford United went into liquidation last year, defeated FC United of Manchester 1-0 at Edgar Street.
