For online voting via your BBC account, The BBC will collect and process the following personal data about you:

  • BBC Account identification

  • Geographic location

  • IP Address

  • Your vote choice

For other online voting, The BBC will collect and process the following personal data about you:

  • Geographic location

  • IP Address

  • Your vote choice

Who is the Data Controller?

Sharing your personal data

The BBC works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the BBC and not independently of the BBC. We currently use a third-party data provider to facilitate the online voting system.

We may also share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.

Retaining your personal data

The BBC will retain your personal data for a period of two (2) years following collection for audit purposes after which time it will be deleted.

Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA).
