Manchester City striker Erling Haaland did suffer a fracture to his foot against Aston Villa last month.

Haaland has not featured since the 6 December defeat at Villa Park, but manager Pep Guardiola is hopeful the Norwegian will be fit for next Wednesday's Premier League encounter with Burnley.

"We thought it was a bit less but in the end it was a little bit of a fracture of the bone," he revealed.

"When you have this injury, it’s a question of time - six to eight weeks.

"It is not about how much you work or whether you go to Abu Dhabi or not. The bone needs time to close. Now it’s at the end.

"We’ll give him three or four days and hopefully against Burnley he can play his first minutes."
