Alex Yee produced one of the moments of the Olympics in Paris when he won triathlon gold. In a dramatic conclusion to the race, Yee overhauled rival Hayden Wilde in the closing stages to finish six seconds clear of the New Zealander. He had trailed Wilde by 14 seconds at the start of the final 2.5km lap.

Later in the Games, Yee and GB team-mates Georgia Taylor-Brown, Samuel Dickinson and Beth Potter won mixed team relay bronze. They were initially announced as having won silver but, following a review by race officials, the United States were confirmed to have finished second, with Britain third. They finished with the same time of one minute 25.40 seconds, just one second behind champions Germany.

Later in August, Yee won Supertri Boston - and his 'cold' celebration caught the eye, with Wilde appearing unimpressed. Yee, who said his aim was to show personality and hopefully elevate the sport, won two of the five Supertri events in 2024.

In October, Yee wrapped up a brilliant year by securing his first world title by finishing third in the World Triathlon Championship Finals in Andalusia. "This is something which has evaded me for the last three years so makes it all the more sweeter," he said.
