Clare earn 14 All-Star nominations after All-Ireland win

O'Donnell's superb form in leading Clare to the Liam McCarthy Cup has earned him a nomination for hurler of the year

Clare have earned 14 Hurling All-Star nominations, with Shane O'Donnell up for hurler of the year.

The Banner County, who won the Liam McCarthy Cup for the first time since 2013 as well as the Allianz League, make up almost a third of the 45 nominations.

Eight counties are represented in total, with beaten finalists Cork having 10 nominees, Limerick nine, Kilkenny four, with Waterford, Wexford, Dublin and Antrim all having two players nominated.

The Saffrons' two representatives are defender Paddy Burke and forward James McNaughton.

Alongside O'Donnell, Cork's Darragh Fitzgibbon and Limerick's Kyle Hayes have been nominated for hurler of the year.

Adam Hogan (Clare), Eoin Downey (Cork) and Cathal O’Neill (Limerick) are up for young hurler of the year.

The All-Stars banquet will take place on Friday 1 November.
