  2. 'Forest fans need to be patient'published at 15:57 BST

Nottingham Forest fan Ellie Molloson: "I can understand why we have brought him in. We have literally just looked at the fact that he has won loads of trophies and that's what we want.

"I like the fact that he has acknowledged there is pressure on him to achieve this season. We are not a 'Big 6' club so we don't have that luxury of always being expected in Europe.

"We want to win the Europa League, or we want to finish on the top four or five of the Premier League.

"It is no easy job and fans do need to get behind him. Forests fan are known for that. We need to give him time and accept that he is being thrown right in the deep end.

"We will have to be patient and not expect too much too soon. But he is getting us excited and seems to understand the identity of Forest."

  3. 'The Premier League needs Ange Postecoglou'published at 15:55 BST

More from Robert Earnshaw: "Ange will get a great reception from the Spurs fans, they will welcome him like a hero. All Spurs fans love him.

"I like the appointment of him. We lack personalities, good personalities. He is a good manager and his team scores goals.

"The Premier League needs Ange Postecoglou. That raspy voice, those jokes, his personality. From what I hear, all players love playing for him and there is a reason for that.

"If I am in that dressing room and Ange said to me 'We are going to play attacking football,' I would say thank you very much. Most players love that.

"This is a really good fit and I am glad he is back in the Premier League. And if you want to go into Europe, you need attacking football. It is the next level.

"The Premier League is a better place with Ange Postecoglou in it."

I don't rate Ange Postecoglou as a coach and I will explain why. He is an extremely poor defensive coach and does not value that side of the game. Any decent coach will tell you that defending is crucial and you need to build the foundations of the team

Ange is a great appointment in my opinion. I'm a bit gutted he's there as it means he won't be available when Emery leaves his post in the next couple of months...

  9. 'Ange plays attacking football'published at 15:42 BST

More from Robert Earnshaw on Ange Postecoglou's attacking style of football: "Players do not play one way so this will be a very different style. There will also be some relief from the players.

"When a new coach comes in and says 'we are going to attack more,' 'we are going to play up the pitch' - most players love that.

    "Ange will fit.

"The way Postecoglou plays, a lot of people miss the details. He sets up defensively but his number one objective is to attack and put the other team under pressure. And he wants to entertain the fans.

"In the Premier League last year, Ange had a lot of injuries and issues. He has a deep squad now at Forest. They have players on the bench who can start if they wanted to.

"The way Ange plays football, really ticks the personality of football. Who wants to go and watch a defensive team go and sit on the edge of the box? Nobody.

"Ange has an attacking way of football, that's the truth."

  10. 'There will be no gradual introductions'published at 15:40 BST

It's been interesting speaking to people who have been working with him [Ange Postecoglou] over the last couple of years. They said that he is going to come in and it will be the Postecoglou style straight away. There will be no gradual introductions. He's only had two days with the players. We might not see a complete Postecoglou team at the weekend but he wants to see his style and philosophies straight away.

Ange has learnt a lot at Spurs (and others) and I think/hope he’ll be flexible and make the most of the talented squad. It’s a shame that Nuno has gone but maybe Ange will keep a bigger squad happy and effective across those extra matches.

Not a chance, he does not have the system knowledge and has proved with previous teams has not idea about defending. Worst possible choice by owner!!!

As a Forest fan I've always tried to be positive about our prospects. We have one big advantage going into the next few matches. The opposition won't have a flipping clue what to expect.

  15. 'Ange can take Forest to the next level'published at 15:25 BST

Former Nottingham Forest player Robert Earnshaw on Ange Postecoglou prospects as Nottingham Forest manager: "Ange says all of the right things. We are all guilty of having this recency bias and only looking at five minutes ago. And that is what sums everything up?

"Ange has been coaching for years and years. He is 60 years old. He has been all over the world coaching and has won trophies all over the world. This is a man who is experienced.

"I like him. I think he fits. He is going to be good and his style of football works.

"We have associated Nottingham Forest with this defensive football. But when I walked through the door at Nottingham Forest, it felt like a team that was all about going forward. Imposing your team against the opposition, scoring goals and winning trophies.

"The last few years it has been about defensive football and just getting by - then all of a sudden they are in Europe

"Ange has the capabilities to take Nottingham Forest to the next level. He has it in him."

Don't agree with criticism that Forest are trying to change too quickly from low possession/fast counter to Angeball. Worth noting that Forest so far this season have 3rd highest total passes/5th highest average possession in the league. The transformation/evolution is already underway.

Spurs may have finished 17th but had lots of players injured and not available. It wasn’t down to his inability finishing 17th but, being nice to managers in the media doesn’t grab attention…..

  18. 'Shocked phone calls' - Nuno's sackingpublished at 15:17 BST

Arsenal v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Some players found out about Nuno Espirito Santo's exit from their team mates, shocked messages and phone calls going around with many on international duty this week before reporting back.

Nuno was popular, he fostered a unity in the squad and club which helped push their Champions League challenge last season.

Ange Postecoglou must harness that to drive the club and squad on again. It will not be lost from within a close-knit squad and the new manager will surely recognise that.

The former Australia boss, though, is usually quiet and reserved initially, preferring to get ready for business and enjoying his own space.

He confirmed that earlier by saying he'd given the players space to digest Nuno's exit.

Nick Montgomery, Mile Jedinak and Sergio Raimundo have joined as assistants along with Rob Burch as goalkeeping coach - having worked with Postecoglou at Tottenham - and they are likely to be the link with the rest of the staff, rather than the manager himself.

Not to say Postecoglou will ignore others but he is there to work, professional, direct and focused.

Those close to him have described him as honest, a good man, and unapologetic about how he wants to play.
