Jersey's men have won team gold and James Dilks individual bronze in the mountain bike criterium at the 2025 Island Games.

Dilks was third behind Menorca's gold medallist Jaume Bosch Pico and Shetland's Grant Ferguson as he won a first individual medal in his third Island Games.

He then led the team of Liam Cadoret, Jay Cracknell, Jacob Mauger and Ben Richards to team gold as their finishes bettered those of silver medallists Guernsey and Isle of Man who won bronze.

It takes Jersey's cycling medal tally up to three after a silver in Monday's team time trial.

"It's been a long year of training and racing away, a lot of travelling and time away from family, so it's good to do them justice for the sacrifices I've made," Dilks told BBC Radio Jersey.

"It's been a goal of mine since the last Island Games to get on the individual medal podium, so I'm happy to get on there regardless of what colour it is. Getting up there is a great achievement."

Dilks was full of praise for his teammates as they upgraded the team silver medal from two years ago to gold this time around.

"We all travel around the national circuit in the UK and train together - four of us have got the same coach," he said.

"We're a really tightknit team and Jersey's a small place so we ride together all the time anyway.

"That's one of our advantages that we are very tightknit and know what it is to work as a team."

Jersey's Michael Rive has won lawn bowls gold for Jersey at the 2025 Island Games.

Rive topped the men's singles round-robin group in Orkney, having beaten all six of his opponents.

He dropped just one set - in a 2-1 win over Bermuda's David Leach - during the entire competition as he upgraded the bronze medal he won two years ago in Guernsey.

Rive, who competed at the Commonwealth Games in 2010, returned to the sport in 2019 after some time off and took home a silver from the European Championships three years ago.

He has a chance for a second medal when he begins his campaign in the men's triples later on Tuesday.

"It feels great. I came here to get gold and I managed to pull it off," he told BBC Radio Jersey.

"There's been some really good opposition - the Orkney guy that got silver was a really hard game and I managed to just scrape that one and lost just one game against Bermuda in a tie-breaker."
