'Howe desperate to be the man who ends Newcastle's long trophy wait'

Newcastle want Eddie Howe to stay and are planning for the future with him as their manager.
Howe is hugely popular on Tyneside. He has also demonstrated his commitment to the club by moving his family to the north east and signing two contract extensions.
But, could the Football Association could give him a big decision to make?
There is no doubt Howe, with his coaching ability and exciting football, could be a great England manager.
And although Newcastle is one of the top Premier League jobs, some Magpies fans are concerned he would find an offer to take charge of the national team too tempting to resist.
Well, the understanding has always been that while Howe, who's 46, would like to manage his country one day - but not just yet.
As a very hands-on coach, he relishes the day-to-day work on the training ground - something he wouldn't have at international level.
He is also desperate to be the man who ends Newcastle's long wait for trophy success.
The club eased their PSR concerns last month without having to sell any of their big names, and are now in a position to support Howe in the transfer market again.
It has, though, been a summer of change and uncertainty behind the scenes at St James' Park - and the timing of the England speculation hardly helps.
We don't know what will happen next. But, we could find out more at the end of the week when he is due to speak to the media at Newcastle's training camp in Germany.
