Guernsey competitors have been allocated 20 places for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The Channel Island hopes to have representation in four sports - athletics, boxing, bowls and swimming.

The island won two medals at the last games in Birmingham in 2022 - the most successful haul by the island since Edinburgh in 1986.

Lucy Beere won silver in the women's singles bowls, while Alastair Chalmers took bronze in the 400m hurdles - the island's first ever athletics medal.

Chalmers, who reached the semi-finals at the last Olympics, will be Guernsey's biggest medal hope in Glasgow next summer.

The number is eight fewer than the team that went to the last games in Birmingham.

Glasgow stepped in at short notice to hold a scaled-back version of the event after the Australian state of Victoria pulled out of hosting the event because of rising costs.

It is the highest-profile muti-sport event that Guernsey, a British Crown Dependency, competes at under its own flag.

Former shooter Peter Jory will be Guernsey's chef de mission in Glasgow with Karina Jackson serving as general team manager.
