Czech skier Tereza Nova has been put into an induced coma after having brain surgery to treat injuries sustained in a heavy fall during a training run.
The 26-year-old, who competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics, fell on Friday during her preparations for Saturday's women's World Cup downhill in the German resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
"We are all thinking of Tereza and wish her a speedy recovery and lots of strength," said the Czech ski federation on Saturday.
"She underwent surgery to reduce brain swelling at the Murnau hospital and will remain in a medically induced coma for as long as the medical team deems necessary."
Nova finished 28th in the Olympic downhill in Beijing 2022 but has only taken part in three World Cup downhill events, competing more regularly on the European Cup circuit.
