Larne's Aaron Donnelly and Conor McKendry and Fuad Sule and Christie Pattison of Glentoran were all given their marching orders after the melees.
In a nervy encounter at Inver Park, Gary Haveron's side withstood persistent pressure from the Glens to pick up the point they needed to finish as runners-up.

Chaotic end to nervy draw at Inver
Highlights: Larne draw with Glentoran to secure second spot
After a bright opening, the first half became something of a cagey affair with few chances at either end.
Larne broke quickly down the right with Dylan Sloan outpacing Marcus Kane, but his low cross was gathered by Glens keeper Daniel Gyollai.
At the other end, Jordan Jenkins initially mis-controlled a Danny Amos cross but at the second attempt, he got a shot away, only to miscue the ball wide of the target.
Glentoran threatened again when David Fisher cut inside and fired a low shot, but it was straight at Larne keeper Rohan Ferguson.
Larne almost broke the deadlock in the opening couple of minutes of the second half as Paul O'Neill and Sean Graham combined to tee up the in-rushing Mark Randall, but the midfielder's fierce shot was superbly turned behind by Gyollai.
Glentoran responded with Cammy Palmer feeding a pass to Marcus Kane, whose low shot from the edge of the penalty area was saved by Ferguson.
Glentoran continued their pursuit of a goal into stoppage time when Finley Thorndike's shot was saved by Rohan Ferguson with Shaun Want making a crucial intervention to thwart Nathaniel Ferris from the rebound.
The final whistle was marred with those ugly scenes on the pitch involving players and officials from both sides with referee Robinson showing four red cards and likely repercussions to follow for the two clubs.
Campbell stunner helps Coleraine past Linfield
Highlights : Coleraine 1-0 Linfield
Campbell's ninth goal of the season secured a hard-fought win for Coleraine over Linfield, who ended the afternoon with 10 men following the second half dismissal of defender Scot Whiteside.
Former Dungannon Swifts man Campbell broke the deadlock two minutes before half-time in spectacular style.
The ball fell perfectly for him some 30 yards from the Linfield goal, his right foot volley giving Blues' goalkeeper David Walsh no chance as it nestled in the top corner.
Earlier, Declan McManus came close on two occasions – his first effort, a low shot from just inside the penalty area forcing Walsh into a smart save down low to his left, while his second, a free-kick from the edge of the box, went narrowly over the crossbar.
Jamie Glackin had a great chance to double Coleraine's lead shortly after the restart following an exchange of passes with Matthew Shevlin, but Walsh got down well to save.
At the other end, Little parried away Charlie Allen's goal bound effort before Archer rattled a right foot shot off the post midway through the second half.
Kieran Offord headed wide from six yards out after Ethan McGee had presented the substitute with a golden opportunity to level.
Linfield ended the game with 10 men as defender Whiteside picked up two yellow cards in the closing stages.
The Blues can now look forward to European action in the summer while the Bannsiders await their fate in the play-offs at the start of next month.
Swifts end league campaign on a high
Highlights: Dungannon Swifts 1-0 Crusaders
During a quiet first half, Dungannon had the best opportunity just after the 20-minute-mark when Brandon Bermingham's powerful free-kick was palmed over the crossbar by Jonny Tuffey.
The away side's only chance of the first half fell to Jay Boyd, whose low effort was denied by Alex Henderson.
Shortly after the restart, Bermingham blasted an effort well off target before Tomas Galvin's effort was easily gathered by Tuffey.
Half-time substitute John McGovern tried to make an instant impact when he burst forward, weaved his around Lewis Barr and found space, but Jarlath O'Rourke did well to get back and clear the ball.
Dungannon would break the deadlock through McGovern in the 73rd minute when Kealan Dillon sent the ball into the box for the striker to finish from close range.
Crusaders upped the tempo and had a huge chance in the closing stages with Oilibhear McCart's effort forcing Henderson to make a good save and fellow substitute Josh O'Connor's follow-up effort headed off the line by Dylan King.
Ruthless Reds at Lakeview
Highlights: Cliftonville cruise past Loughgall to secure seventh
The Reds surged ahead on 21 minutes with a beautifully worked team goal. Rory Hale's clever ball found Joe Gormley, who sent Luke Conlan racing clear down the left.
Conlan's pinpoint cross was cushioned neatly by Ryan Curran into the path of Gormley, who calmly guided the ball into the far corner.
Four minutes into the second half, Gormley doubled his tally following another slick move. Curran's incisive through-ball sliced open the Loughgall defence, releasing Axel Piesold, whose driven cross provided Gormley with an easy tap-in.
The Reds then went further ahead on 64 minutes as Eric McWoods burst clear, drew goalkeeper Berraat Turker out and selflessly squared the ball for Alex Parsons to roll into the empty net.
Darren Murphy's men responded swiftly, pulling one back moments later when Ryan Waide confidently dispatched a penalty, offering the home supporters brief hope of a comeback.
However, Jim Magilton's charges restored their three-goal advantage eight minutes from time.
The lively McWoods picked out Curran at the edge of the area, and he clinically swept the ball beyond Turker and into the far corner.
Ports beat Sky Blues but miss out on play-off spot
Highlights: Portadown 2-1 Ballymena United
Shay McCartan's penalty and Steven McCullough's free-kick either side of Luke Hawe's equaliser secured all three points for the Ports.
The hosts broke the deadlock from the spot, with McCartan sending Sean O'Neill the wrong way from 12-yards as Eamon Fyfe was brought down inside the area.
The visitors then found an equaliser 10 minutes before the break as Hawe found the bottom left-hand corner with his strike from outside the area following Daniel Lafferty's lay-off.
Just as it looked like the two sides would go in level at the break, up stepped McCullough to curl home an exquisite free-kick with his left foot from just outside the box after Daithi McCallion accidentally used his hand.
The second half was one of few chances, with the Ports hanging on for all three points.
Portadown finished the season in eighth position, with Jim Ervin's Sky Blues a place behind in ninth.
Campbell stars as Lurgan Blues beat Carrick
Highlights: Carrick Rangers v Glenavon
Glenavon had the first attack on goal just three minutes into the game.
David Toure swung in a cross from the right that had Carrick goalkeeper Jack McIntyre at full stretch to keep the ball out.
However, on 16 minutes McIntyre could do nothing about Glenavon's opener.
Paul McGovern raced clear and was half-tackled by Carrick's Benjamin Buchanan-Rolleston, but the ball rolled kindly back into his path allowing him to neatly slide the ball past McIntyre.
Glenavon continued to dominate play and could have doubled their advantage nine minutes after, when a scramble in the Carrick box courtesy of some poor home defending, allowed McGovern to shoot, but he could only fire over the crossbar from 10 yards.
Rangers' first chance came just before the break. An in-swinging corner was met at the back post by Ben McFarland, but the midfielder failed to get his header on target.
Just five minutes after the break Glenavon got their second. Ben Wilson produced a smart back-heel down the right flank which found Peter Campbell on the edge of the area, and he curled a left-footed effort that nestled into the bottom left-hand corner.
There was still time for two more goals, first, after missing an open goal, Aaron Heaney was played in down the right by Campbell on 76 minutes, and the forward made no mistake, drilling the ball past McIntyre.
Then on 85 minutes, Campbell once more cut inside from the right onto his favoured left foot before he bent a stunning shot into the far corner beyond the outstretched McIntyre.
Stephen Baxter's side will now prepare for Tuesday's promotion/relegation play-off first leg away to Championship side Annagh United.
