Swans need winning run to foster 'trust'

Head coach Luke Williams wants Swansea City to build “trust” between now and the end of the season by stringing back-to-back Championship wins together.
The Swans face Rotherham at home on Saturday looking to back up Wednesday’s 3-0 victory against Stoke City.
But the Swans have found consistency hard to come by, putting a sequence of league wins together just twice so far this term.
Four wins in a row under previous boss Michael Duff in the autumn and back-to-back victories under Williams in late February and early March have been the best runs.
“The level of competition is very high in the Championship. Team’s bounce back from defeats, so it’s really difficult to maintain a level but that’s the challenge,” Williams said.
“If you’re consistent in the Championship then you have a pretty good season because so many teams have bad spells and bad runs during the season, so if you can remain consistent then you’re going to do alright.
“That needs to be something that we start to really understand and try to build that at the back end of this season so we can go into the summer strong.”
When asked about maintaining the level they found against Stoke, Williams added, “that’s the big challenge now because it’s a similar performance to the Cardiff game in terms of the intensity, the energy, the aggression, all the really raw stuff.
“I think we managed to play some decent stuff in there as well, clean sheet, three goals, so there’s a lot to like about the performance and now we have to make something really similar to start gaining trust.
“If we can perform like that much more frequently then we’ll start to build trust and start to create an identity for ourselves, and that’s what’s so challenging about this game.”
