Teenager Jodie Williams wins 200m to secure Euro double

Williams is looking for a third medal at the Championships in the 4x100m relay

Teenage Great Britain sprinter Jodie Williams added 200m gold to her 100m title at the European Junior Championships in Tallinn, Estonia.

The 17-year-old schoolgirl and world junior champion dominated the field, cruising to victory in a season's best time of 22.94 seconds from lane five.

Her victory comes after she set a new Championship record in the 100m.

Williams will be hoping to make it a hat-trick of golds when she runs again on Sunday in the 4x100m relay.

The sprinter, who had been the fastest qualifier for the final after running 23.21 secs, flew out of the blocks and was never in danger of being caught.

She finished almost half a second ahead of Dutch silver medallist Jamile Samuel who finished in a time of 23.31.

Despite the achievement, the 17-year-old Williams felt she could have achieved a better time had the semi-finals not been scheduled just a few hours before the final.

"I'm not particularly pleased with the time, but it's good to go sub-23 seconds again," said Williams, who came home in 22.94 seconds.

"I'm definitely happy, though. I've done what I came here to do."
