Joanna Mills celebrated her selection for next month's World Junior Championships by taking a comfortable 400m victory at Monday's Northern Ireland Championships at Antrim.

The Ballymena & Antrim athlete is hoping to represent Ireland in the 4x400m relay at the London Olympics.

Ciara Mageean was a late withdrawal because of a bereavement.

With Ben Reynolds also among the absentees, it was a low-key championships but there were a number of decent performances - notably Daniel Mooney's 800m victory.

It was a repeat of the first two placings in this year's Irish Indoor Championships 1500m as Mooney held off his Letterkenny club-mate Ruairi Finnegan by .19secs to take victory in 1:53.09.

Finn Valley's Mark Hoy completed a Donegal clean sweep of the placings as he took third in 1:54.36.

Mooney spent his early years living in Portrush and is hoping to represent Northern Ireland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

His victory maintained the recent middle distance successes by Donegal athletes after Mark English's stunning personal best of 1:45.77 for 800m nine days ago.

Paralympic champion Michael McKillop also competed in the 800m race but was unable to keep pace with the Donegal trio.

Kelly Neely [Nee McNeice] took the women's 800m in a solid 2:07.06 as she finished ahead of Newry's Aisling Crossey [2:12.46] and City of Lisburn's Erin McIlveen [2:14.19]

The 1500m titles went to Kerry Harty [4:27.16] and City of Derry's Conor Bradley [4:05.47] with Oliver Black, representing Liverpool Harriers, holding off Dean Adams by .05secs to win the 100m in 10.87.

Ballymena & Antrim's John Houston won the 400m title in a personal best 48.96 seconds while his club-mate Christine McMahon took the women's 400m hurdles in 61.79 seconds.
