Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Steph Twell, external leads the list of athletes competing at Guernsey's Intertrust Golden Meeting at Footes Lane.

The 23-year-old is planning to run the 1500m and possibly the 800m as well.

Should Twell, who was world junior champion over 1500m in 2008, run the shorter distance it could help local runner Natalie Whitty make the 2014 Commonwealth Games qualifying time.

But Olympic marathon runner Lee Merrien may not be fit to compete on 15 June.

The 34-year-old is recovering from stomach surgery and the meeting may come too soon for him.

Island 100m and 400m record holder Tom Druce will race over 200m and 300m while former Great Britain 400m hurdler Dale Garland will also race on his home track.

Garland is competing in a one-man 'mini decathlon' as he looks to qualify for the event for Glasgow 2014, having represented Guernsey in the decathlon at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006.
