Great Britain will attempt to improve on last year's five gold medals at the European Cross Country Championships in Bulgaria on Sunday.

Britain topped the medal table in Belgrade 12 months ago with nine medals, including golds in one junior and five team categories.

Gemma Steel will hope to improve on her individual silver medal and help the senior women defend their team title.

Jessica Judd returns from the track to line up in the under-20 race.

The 19-year-old from Essex reached the European and Commonwealth 800m finals this summer but showed her cross-country form with an 11-second victory in the U20 race at the Liverpool Cross Challenge two weeks ago.

Steel, 29, won the senior race and will lead a team in Samokov that also includes Kate Avery, Lily Partridge, Sonia Samuels, Stephanie Twell and Elle Vernon.

Emelia Gorecka will step up to the under-23 team after winning the junior title in two of the last three years.

Andrew Butchart, Luke Caldwell, Adam Hickey, Tom Lancashire, Ross Millington and Tom Wade make up the senior men's team, which won team and individual bronze last year.
