Great Britain’s relay teams will seek to qualify for this summer’s Paris Olympics at the World Athletics Relays this weekend and you can watch the action on the BBC.

The event in Nassau, Bahamas on 4-5 May features a host of global stars in 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

Sprinter CJ Ujah is in the GB squad for the first time since serving a 22-month ban for a doping violation at the Tokyo Olympics that led to the British men’s 4x100m team being stripped of its silver medal.

Zharnel Hughes, the British 100m and 200m record holder, will captain the squad.

Great Britain won medals in four of the five relay events at last year’s worlds, including mixed relay silver after the Netherlands’ Femke Bol tripped just yards from the winning line.

Here's all you need to know about this year’s event.

How does it work?

The top two teams in each heat on the opening day will advance to the final on day two. They will also secure Olympic quota places in the process.

The Olympic lane seeding positions will be decided in the finals on day two.

The teams in the finals will also be competing for medals.

Who else is competing?

Noah Lyles and Gabby Thomas will headline the USA’s teams for the 4x100m as they aim to defend their men’s and women’s titles from last year.

Double world gold medallist Femke Bol will form part of the Netherlands' 4x400m women’s quartet hoping to retain their crown from Budapest.

Olympic 100m champion Marcell Jacobs, who featured on Italy’s victorious teams at the Tokyo Olympic Games and at the last World Relays earlier in 2021, is also entered for the 4x100m.

Jamaica’s strong squad will not feature their Olympic champions at the event.
