World Athletics 2011: Asafa Powell wins in Lausanne
Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell clocks 9.78 seconds in winning the 100m at the Diamond League meeting in Lausanne back in June, the fastest time in the world this year.
Powell had hoped for a showdown with compatriot and world record holder Usain Bolt at the World Athletics Championships in South Korea later this month, but the 28-year-old has pulled out because of a groin injury., external
American Tyson Gay has already withdrawn from the event due to injury, leaving Bolt as the clear favourite for the race on Sunday 28 August.
