London Marathon launches 'Digital Marathon'

The London Marathon unveils the first 'Digital Marathon', which will allow people to run the 26.2-mile course from the comfort of a treadmill.

Every year over 160,000 people from across the world enter the London Marathon ballot, but less than a third of those get to run the famous course.

From next year that will change, with an interactive 3D running experience which combines HD video of the famous London course with virtual reality avatars.

BBC London sports reporter Sara Orchard gets a sneak preview, speaking to London Marathon race director Hugh Brasher and Marc Hardy, the co-founder of Paofit.
