UK Sport to launch public consultation over funding

UK Sport chief executive Liz Nicholl tells BBC sports editor Dan Roan she wants to launch a public consultation for the first time to decide its future funding strategy for elite sport.

The government agency invests around £100m each year into high-performance and has a 'no-compromise' policy which has under-pinned Britain's recent Olympic and Paralympic success.

But there has been criticism of the approach, and the review will be welcomed by sports such as basketball and water polo, which were among a number who had their Olympic funding withdrawn in February.
