Carl Froch beats Mikkel Kessler to retain IBF world title in London

Carl Froch says he is "on the crest of a wave" after retaining his IBF super-middleweight crown by beating Mikkel Kessler with a thrilling win on points at London's O2 Arena.

The Nottingham fighter started faster but his Danish rival, who beat Froch in Denmark in 2010, found his feet in the middle rounds.

But Froch, 35, kept his head and took a unanimous decision, winning 118-10, 116-12 and 115-113 on the three judges' scorecards.
