Ricky Ponting happy with 'positive start' for Surrey
Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has told BBC Surrey he is happy to make a positive start for the county after "sitting on his backside" in the Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians.
The 38-year-old batsman made 192 against Derbyshire, the highest score by a Surrey player on their first-class debut.
The Tasmanian, who scored 13,378 Test runs for Australia before retiring from international cricket last November, is on a two-month deal at The Oval to cover the absence of South Africa captain Graeme Smith on international duty.
