Cricket World Cup 2015: Geoffrey Boycott on 'average' England

BBC Test Match Special summariser and former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott says he is disappointed by England's "average" displays with both bat and ball at the World Cup following their third Pool A defeat in four games, losing to Sri Lanka by nine wickets in Wellington.

Eoin Morgan's men registered 309-6 from their 50 overs, thanks largely to a Joe Root's 121, but Sri Lanka batsmen Lahiru Thirimanne (139 not out) and Kumar Sangakkara (117 not out) helped them to ease past that total for the loss of only one wicket and with 2.4 overs to spare.

England have now lost nine of the 29 one-day internationals in which they have made 300 batting first and face elimination from the tournament if they lose either of their final two games against Bangladesh and Afghanistan, and Bangladesh beat Scotland on Thursday.
