Kevin Pietersen says he is in best form of career after scoring 326

Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen said he is in the best form of his career after hitting a career-best 326 not out for Surrey against Leicestershire in the County Championship.

Speaking before a meeting with England's new director of cricket Andrew Strauss, Pietersen said scoring runs for his county was the only way of earning an England recall following his sacking in 2014.

BBC Sport understands Pietersen was told at the Monday evening that he will not return to the England team.
