Joe Root backs Moeen Ali at top of England batting order

Joe Root says team-mate Moeen Ali "played really well" as he scored 22 on the opening day of England's tour match against Pakistan A in Sharjah.

Moeen was promoted up the order as England seek a replacement for Adam Lyth.

Root (59) was one of four players to pass 50 - along with Yorkshire team-mates Jonny Bairstow (66) and Adil Rashid (51 not out), and captain Alastair Cook (53) - as the tourists finished the day on 286-5.
