Moeen Ali will rise to challenge of opening - Joe Root

Vice-captain Joe Root says Moeen Ali will "rise to the challenge" if he is picked to open the batting for England in the first Test against Pakistan in the UAE.

England are searching for a new partner for captain Alastair Cook at the top of the order and Moeen looks the most likely candidate, though he has scored only 41 runs in his past three innings.
