Cricket Ireland outline plan to 'realise potential'

Cricket Ireland Chief Executive Warren Deutrom outlines an ambitious plan to become a mainstream sport, with the goal of taking the game to new audiences and beginning to rival the popularity of football, rugby and GAA by 2020.

"We now know the possibility of becoming a Test nation by 2020 is very achievable but we also believe we have the means and resources to keep the public interest, not just during World Cups, but between them as well."

Deutrom emphasises that encouraging participation is another vital ingredient in increasing the popularity of the sport in Ireland.
