David Weir pleased with perception change
Six-time Paralympic champion David Weir is delighted with how the 2012 Games have changed people's perception of Paralympic athletes and believes they are now considered equal to their Olympic counterparts for the first time.
The 33-year-old is also pleased to realise a long-term ambition and open his own academy with the aim of coaching potential Paralympic athletes ahead of the 2016 Games in Rio and beyond.
The Weir Archer Academy, named after the wheelchair athlete and his long-term coach Jenny Archer, will be based at the Kingsmeadow Athletics Stadium in Surrey.
