MP John Whittingdale demands changes at the FA

MP John Whittingdale, chairman of the Culture, Media and Sport committee, says the Football Association must make changes or the government will have to intervene.

The committee have written a report, external stressing the need to reform the FA and limit the financial instability and the levels of debt in football.

However, Whittingdale admits he has been impressed with new FA chairman, David Bernstein, who took on the role eight months ago, and thinks the football governing body will be open to change under his leadership.

The committee's findings will now be passed on to Sports Minister Hugh Robertson, who will co-ordinate the Government's response and decide which recommendations it would like to see adopted.
