Perverse not to use goal-line technology - PFA boss Gordon Taylor
Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Gordon Taylor says football is "lagging behind the times" as one of the few sports not to use technology to verify referees' decisions.
Taylor says referees need support because their errors are subject to more criticism than those of players, after referee Martin Atkinson controversially ruled an effort by Chelsea's Juan Mata crossed the goal-line in his side's FA Cup semi-final win against Tottenham.
Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher adds that goal-line technology would be a good "insurance policy" to help with "black and white" decisions, and would not take away from referees' authority.
