Roy Hodgson appointment not based on cost - David Bernstein

Football Association chairman David Bernstein says "financial considerations did not drive" the board's thinking during their quest to appoint a new England manager.

Roy Hodgson, whose contract with West Brom was nearing an end, has signed a four-year deal to be the new national team boss.

Bernstein adds that the selection process was not a two-horse race between Hodgson and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, insisting there were a number of names on the shortlist.
