Tottenham coach Andre Villas-Boas describes Jermain Defoe as a "great, great player" after the striker's double inspired a 3-1 victory over West Ham.

Villas-Boas says it was "extremely important" to get back to winning ways after the London side's three-game losing streak.

Gareth Bale added Spurs' third goal before Andy Carroll scored a consolation for the visitors.
