Liverpool 1-3 Aston Villa: Benteke praised by Rodgers

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers blames two "cheap" goals for their 3-1 home defeat by Aston Villa, while praising the "outstanding" Christian Benteke.

The former Swansea boss says the Reds must be more "clinical" after wasting chances before Belgium forward Benteke put the visitors in front and then set up Villa's second for Andreas Weimann with a backheel.

Rodgers says he is "fed up of talking about" penalties his side should have had, after Daniel Agger's second-half claim was turned down shortly before Benteke made it 3-0.

Steven Gerrard's late goal could not prevent a defeat that sees Liverpool slip to 12th in the Premier League.
