Roy Hodgson proud to oversee Ashley Cole's 100th cap

Roy Hodgson says it is "an honour" to oversee Ashley Cole's 100th cap for England when they face Brazil on 6 February.

The England manager also reveals he has deliberately "ignored" some of his younger players when selecting his squad in order that Under-21 coach Stuart Pearce has a chance to work with them ahead of the European Under-21 championship in the summer.

Chelsea left-back Cole is likely to become England's seventh player to earn one hundred caps after Peter Shilton, David Beckham, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Billy Wright and Steven Gerrard.
