Gubba, who joined BBC Sport in 1972, was in the commentary box for Hungary's 10-1 win against El Salvador in 1982, which is still a World Cup record.

He also commentated on memorable goals for the Soviet Union and Brazil in 1986.

As well as a being a regular at World Cups and Olympics, Gubba worked on Sportsnight, Match of the Day and Grandstand, but most recently featured on ITV's Dancing On Ice.
