Michael Owen: England stars react to strikers retirement

Stuart Pearce, Frank Lampard, James Milner and Gary Lineker praise Michael Owen, describing him as one of the best strikers of his generation.

Owen made his England debut at 18 and was picked by Glenn Hoddle in his 1998 World Cup squad. He scored twice in that tournament, including a stunning solo effort against Argentina that announced his arrival on the international stage.

He is set to retire from all football at the end of the season, at the age of 33, having scored 40 goals in 89 internationals and 220 goals in his club career.
