Women's Euro 2013: Hope Powell defends England performance
Former England manager Hope Powell has been sacked after an early elimination from the 2013 European Championship in Sweden.
However, immediately after the tournament, Powell insisted the English side were in a period of "transition" and must rebuild.
The head coach also defended her decision not to select some of the younger players, saying they were not "ready to cope with that pressure".
England were knocked out of the tournament after defeats to Spain and France and a draw with Russia in the group stages.
