Andre Villas-Boas: Tottenham sacking saddens Gus Poyet

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet says he wants to know the reasons behind Spurs' sacking of Andre Villas-Boas and is "sad" to see two Premier League managers go in a matter of days.

Villas-Boas was dismissed after Sunday's 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool, while Steve Clarke was sacked by West Brom on Saturday following a fourth straight Premier League loss.

Speaking before Tuesday's League Cup quarter-final with Chelsea, former Tottenham midfielder Poyet says he hopes his side can repeat the fighting form they recently showed against the Blues in the Premier League.
