Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking over at Cardiff City 'with open eyes'

New Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he is taking over at the club "with open eyes" following controversy surrounding the sacking of former boss Malky Mackay.

The 40-year-old Norwegian explains he wants his players "to express themselves" and play a brand of "forward-minded football", adding that he feels it is "the right step" for his career after previously turning down approaches from Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers.

After ending his playing career in 2007, Solskjaer took charge of Manchester United's reserve team for two-and-a-half years before guiding Molde to their first Norwegian league title in 100 years in 2011.
