John Amaechi says the 'culture' in football must change

Former NBA player John Amaechi says that the "culture" in football must change, after retired midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger reveals he is gay.

The 31-year-old, who won 52 caps for Germany and played for Aston Villa, West Ham and Everton, is the most prominent footballer to reveal his homosexuality publicly.

Amaechi, who came out in 2007 after retiring from basketball, adds that football views itself as a "bold and progressive" organisation but that doesn't reflect "reality".
