Everton manager Roberto Martinez says his side's 1-0 defeat at Tottenham is a "harsh" lesson to take.

The teams were evenly matched until Emmanuel Adebayor scored to give the home side three points at White Hart Lane.

Victory saw Tottenham replace Everton in fifth place in the Premier League.
