Football betting: Would blanket ban stop rule breaches?

BBC Late Kick Off North West's Ian Haslam investigates whether a complete ban on players and club staff gambling on football would prevent more breaches of Football Association regulations.

Premier League players Andros Townsend and Cameron Jerome have received fines in the past year, while Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore has been suspended by his club until an investigation into a potential rule breach is completed by the FA.

And on Monday, Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling admitted a misconduct charge in relation to betting.

Many clubs say the rules regarding betting on football are unclear. FA chairman Greg Dyke says a blanket ban, similar to the one currently in operation in Scotland, is being discussed and may be introduced in the near future.

Watch an extended report on gambling in football at 23:20 GMT on BBC One (North West region only) and online for the subsequent seven days.
