Joey Barton says English are players 'not world class'

QPR midfielder Joey Barton says English players are "not world class" and thinks fans "get sucked into the hype of the Premier League".

Barton believes foreign players in Premier League teams make Englishmen "look better than they are", and compares the "mentality" and "discipline" of Wayne Rooney unfavourably with Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

You can listen to Barton's full interview with Sir Clive Woodward on Thursday on BBC Radio 5 live at 19:30 BST. No subject is off limits as he opens up about his troubled childhood, the "weak" managers he has worked under and talks about his own ambition to become a leading coach.

Barton also discusses England's chances at the World Cup and the FA's development of players, and recounts what happened before his infamous sending-off against Manchester City at the Etihad in the final match of the 2011-12 league season.
