Manchester United and Netherlands striker Robin van Persie says his club strike partner Wayne Rooney is not to blame for England's World Cup demise.

Costa Rica's 1-0 win over Italy on Friday condemned Roy Hodgson's men to an early group stage exit following England's 2-1 defeat by Uruguay the previous evening.
