Brendan Rodgers relief after Liverpool win epic shootout

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says his team practised penalties in preparation for their League Cup tie against Middlesbrough, after beating Boro 14-13 on spot-kicks at Anfield.

After the match finished 2-2, it took 30 penalties before Boro winger Albert Adomah missed to send the Reds through. Liverpool had taken the lead through Jordan Rossiter but Boro equalised through Adam Reach.

In extra-time, Suso drilled home for the Reds but Patrick Bamford's last-minute penalty forced a shootout, which turned into the longest spot-kick contest in League Cup history.
