Wayne Rooney says England's players 'upset' with first-half in Italy

Captain Wayne Rooney says England's players were "upset" with their first-half display in the 1-1 draw against Italy and believes his side can do better.

Andros Townsend's spectacular strike cancelled out Graziano Pelle's first-half header, and the Tottenham midfielder believes his goal "silenced" a few critics who think he should not be in the squad.

Head coach Roy Hodgson says England's first-half performance "fell way below the standards" the squad have been setting in recent months.
