Jose Mourinho tried to sign Steven Gerrard three times

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho pays tribute to Steven Gerrard, who he takes on as a player for the final time when Chelsea host Liverpool on Sunday.

The Portuguese reveals that he tried to sign Gerrard for Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, but the former England captain chose to stay at Anfield.

Mourinho also denies that he gave all of his players four days off ahead of the new Premier League champions' game against Liverpool.

It was reported earlier this week that Mourinho gave all of his players a break after they clinched the Premier League title last week.
